We consider multiclass feedforward queueing networks under first in first out and priority service disciplines driven by long-range dependent arrival and service time processes. We show that in critical loading the normalized workload, queue length and sojourn time processes can converge to a multi-dimensional reflected fractional Brownian motion. This weak heavy traffic approximation is deduced from a deterministic pathwise approximation of the network behavior close to constant critical load in terms of the solution of a Skorokhod problem. This paper proposes the interesting nonlinear behavior of light known as bifurcation, where the use of such behavior in a micro ring resonator to form the secure digital codes for optical packet switching application is demonstrated. A new concept of the stop-start bits in an optical packet switching protocol is formed by using the bifurcation codes. Bifurcation is introduced when light is input into a nonlinear micro ring device, where the refractive index of an InGaAsP/InP is one of device parameters. The other parameters of the device are coupling coefficient (K) and the ring radius (R), where the ring radii used are ranged from 5 to 10 μm. All-optical networks are a sound answer to the huge data traffic demand expected for the forthcoming information society. Interesting networking aspects are the broadcasting, scalability, and reconfiguration in an all-optical environment. These issues are addressed in the present article for an all-optical network called MATRIX, which is time slotted and uses packet switching. The architecture enables the all-optical interconnection of a large number of nodes with both a small number of wavelengths and wavelength continuity based on a consequent exploitation of wavelength-division multiplexing and space-division multiplexing (i.e., multiple fibers per cable are used). For an efficient use of the resources, each node is equipped with multiple transmitters and receivers, respectively. Two different broadcasting schemes are investigated. An analytical model is developed, and the corresponding simulation results are in good agreement. It is further shown how different networks of arbitrary size can be interconnected to larger all-optical network clusters, thereby providing scalability not only with respect to the number of nodes but also to the geographical extension. Finally, wavelength reassignments allow change of optical paths through the network in case of changing traffic patterns or network failures in order to best exploit the available network resources. In this paper, we consider the stochastic fluid-flow model of a single node in a high-speed telecommunication network handling multi-class traffic. The node has multiple buffers, one for each class of traffic. The contents of these buffers are multiplexed onto a single output channel using one of the service scheduling policies: the Timed Round Robin Policy or the Static Priority Service Policy. The Quality of Service requirements for each class are based on cell loss probabilities. Using effective bandwidth methodologies and the recently developed bounds for semi-Markov modulated traffic, we solve call admission control problems for the two service scheduling policies at this node. We compare the performance of the effective bandwidth methodologies and the SMP bounds technique. We also numerically compare the performance of the two service scheduling policies. 相似文献
